Today, December 14, 2009, is Kylene's 26th birthday. This poem is dedicated to her.

You may keep your Jared diamonds
You may keep your ribboned cars
You may keep your fancy iPhones
And your heroes with guitars

For they all pale when compared
To the gift we would receive
On that crisp December morning
Back in 1983

That precious little bundle
So dainty and so sweet
From her little button nose
Down to her small and pinkish feet

She was the most perfect gift we
So young ourselves upon that day
Could ever want no matter how
We might wish or hope or pray

She blessed us with her presence
Her life would make us whole
Through all the years that we shared 
With that kind and caring soul

So happy birthday, darling
We'll miss you, where 'ere you be
Til we're once again united
upon higher planes with thee
