Sometimes miracles can be small. We found that out when we visited Kylene's grave recently. As we (Kylene's Mom, Dad, Grandma Privett, and Aunt Millie) were paying our respects to Kylene, a small periwinkle butterfly, only a couple of inches long, suddenly appeared and alighted directly on the picture of Kylene on her grave marker. After resting there for a few moments, gently opening and closing its wings, it flew off to Vonnie and alighted on her ring. There it sat, again gently opening and closing its wings, for quite some time before eventually taking off and flitting around us during the remainder of our visit. Looking back on that episode today, which marks the second anniversary of Kylene's death, we can't help but feel that perhaps this was a simple gesture of comfort. We can understand skepticism from people just reading this who think this was only a coincidence. Perhaps it's one of those cases where you just had to be there. We think that perhaps Kylene was. Butterfly kisses to you, too, daughter. And our love forever. |
